About the Artist

Artist Statement

I rarely have an idea of where a painting is going to take me. I will see a shape with an intriguing contour and that will become the basis for an entire painting. Once I have a shape on the canvas, I enter into a kind of a conversation with it. The painting truly tells me what it needs. I think of each painting as a puzzle that has never been solved before. My task as a painter is to find the perfect way to put them together.
Ten years ago I took a week long course at Bennington College called “Painting with Fabric”. It really changed my world. I never thought I could love a medium more than oils which I had worked in, at that point, for 35 years. I had always incorporated pattern into my paintings, being heavily influenced by Matisse, Bonnard and Vuillard, now I was actually gluing fabrics on the surface of the canvas and working the paints in and around the fabrics. Because the glue is water based I had to switch over to acrylics which are also water based.

Wrap Yourself in Art

Blankets that are soft, warm and distinctively beautiful.
These blankets are a unique combination weaving and painting….a merging of aesthetic and utilitarian. Each image is the work of artist Lynne Feldman. The blankets are woven not printed. The weaving is done by a 200 year old family owned business in the foothills of North Carolina. These blankets are 100% cotton and are machine washable and made in the USA.
